For the purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation ((EU) 2016/679) (“GDPR”), B.C. Deeks is the “data controller”.

If you have any questions about this policy or about how I use your Personal Data, please contact me via my contact details at the end of this policy.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behave in the same way as a visitor to the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

I may collect analytics data or use third-party analytics tools such as Google Analytics to study traffic and trends on my website, email newsletter and other social media. These tools collect information from your browser, including pages you visit, to help improve your user experience. The data collected is in aggregate form and cannot be easily manipulated to identify an individual user.

How I use your data

I will only use your Personal Data when the law allows me to. Most commonly, I use your Personal Data to:

  • process and manage your use of my website;
  • respond to your questions, comments and requests;
  • where you have opted-in to receive marketing from me, deliver communications that are relevant to your preferences / may be of interest to you;
  • improve my services and website through analysis of information.

Who I share your data with

I take your privacy seriously and will not share your Personal Data with others, except as permitted by applicable law or as set out below:

I share Personal Data as necessary with third parties who provide services or functions on my behalf and who require the information to provide those specific services to me. These third parties may include social media advertising platforms such as Facebook and Google Adwords for custom audience generation and the development of targeting criteria for other audiences. Please note that I have appropriate data privacy safeguards in place with third parties with whom I share Personal Data as described above and who are providing services or functions on my behalf.

How long I retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on my website (if any), I also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have left comments on my website, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data I hold about you, including any data you have provided to me. You can also request that I erase any personal data I hold about you. This does not include any data I am obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where I send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
